It’s important to note that we no longer support backwards compatibility in GEMstudio 4.0. In other words, projects created using GEMstudio 4.0 cannot be be edited by older versions. In order to get started using any new features, simply open up your project in GEMstudio 4.0, and save. Now you’re ready to use all the new features below!
Save as a version control project
Save projects in a format that will allow the use of version-control systems like GIT or SVN. The Save-As menu now includes the option to save as Version Control and Non-Version Control as shown below.
Compile faster than ever

only those pages with the changes will be compiled. The Incremental Compile
feature is automatically included in the GEMstudio 4.0 compiler.
Use Visual Studio Code as an external editor
You can now use Visual Studio Code, an open-source external code editor from Microsoft, with GEMstudio. Rather than using our built-in editor, you can use VS Code to edit and create the GEMstudio page functions. Our new GEMScript VS Code extension has added benefits of code highlighting and code completion.
Easily edit projects using other computers
Need someone else to work on your GEMstudio Project? Under the Tools menu, we added the Export Portable Project feature. Projects can now be exported via a single folder directory containing the entire GEMstudio project along with all the images and global settings. Simply export your portable project, and open on another computer without any hassle.
Add any logo to the boot screen
Get creative with the start screen! Easily add a customized boot screen to your display. In Project Properties, under the Logos tab, we added the option to choose a custom logo image.
